It takes a skilled photographer to capture beautiful images but…

It’s in the details
What details will be highlighted in your photos? Think about every little detail that’s going to be captured. If you want your photographer to get an up-close photo of you signing the marriage certificate, then the pen you use, for example, could be an opportunity to showcase your style. And if you are going to kneel at the altar then there’s your chance to show of the quirky stickers on the soles of your shoes.

Camera conscious
With the spotlight and the camera focused on you throughout the wedding day, you need to ensure that you keep smiling. And in the moments that you are not smiling your face should be relaxed. The last thing you want is to look through your album later only to find yourself frowning or looking sad throughout the wedding. Even if something goes wrong; and it probably will, make a conscious effort not to let it show on your face. The same goes for the bridal party; ask them to smile and look comfortable. Awkward expressions from you and your bridal party can ruin otherwise stunning photos.

Get some props
Why? Because props are fun! This is one of the simplest ways to add some creativity to your photos. They could be heartfelt, romantic props or witty, funny ones. It’s pretty hard to hold up a prop and not relax. You and your bridal party will have a great time and you’ll have awesome photos to prove that.

The pose
Much as you want to look natural and unrehearsed you also have to put some effort into looking great in front of the camera. There will be some photos where you want to actually strike a pose. In that case, make sure that you cosy up to your spouse. Get really close to each other. What might look like a small space between you can appear like a big, awkward gap in the photo.

Make a list
Your bouquet was made of burlap and lace…and it was gorgeous! Your favours? Each and every one of them was painstakingly made by your maid of honour. The inside of your wedding bands is inscribed with a promise your spouse made to you. But your photographer does not know any of these details. So make a list of the things you would like your photographer to capture. Do not micromanage the photographer with a long list of shots to take. Make the list short but specific.
