They help us capture memories of ourselves at a given point in time and they are a great excuse to get dressed up and look fabulous!
So what exactly makes a great selfie or photo? Well, there are certain makeup tricks tha guarantee a great photo. That way, you can avoid the embarrassment of getting tagged in pictures where you don’t look your best in.
Here are a few tips to help you get there; whether for a professional photo or just using your camera phone.
Give yourself flawless skin
For the most part, you are probably going to want a full coverage foundation, along with using concealer and powder. These products should cover any blemishes, discolorations in the skin, and dark circles; giving your skin a healthy and flawless finish.
Make sure your skin is matte
What this means is you don't want your skin to look shiny and reflective. When you are going to be photographed, you want to avoid anything that is going to reflect light on your face. The camera flash and the added shimmer will leave your skin looking really oil…and you don’t want that! Shiny skin does not look good in photos.
Falsies are your friend
Try a set of falsies. Even if you think false lashes look a little too, well, false, they look awesome on camera.
‘Falsies' will add a flare to your look and make your eyes stand out. If you're not comfortable with false lashes, be sure to apply a good 2-3 coats of mascara. This is to make sure your eyes stand out and don't disappear in the bright lights.
High Fashion
For a high fashion picture, you will need to apply more makeup than you would wear on a normal day. Cameras wash out 30-40% of the color on your face, so if you wear light everyday makeup for a photo shoot, chances are that it will be barely visible in the pictures. If your makeup looks a bit too dramatic for every day, then it's perfect for camera!
Don’t skip Lipstick
Skipping lipstick will cause your mouth to blend in with the rest of your face. You need to contrast your features for best results. Put on a bold lip or even something nude; it all depends on what look you are going for. Lip liner is your friend! It prevents your lipstick from bleeding around your face and keeps you looking picture perfect all day long!
And remember to smile for the camera.
