Though your wedding ceremony won’t last as long as your…
Because that is when you exchange your vows and make your commitment to each other. And it’s not just what you say, it’s how you say it and also…where you say it.

Take cover
Depending on the weather, and the time of day, the sun could be really hot during your wedding ceremony. And your guests could end up roasting under the scorching sun or moving the neatly arranged chairs as they seek whatever shade they can find. If your venue has some trees, you have your ceremony in the natural shade. So you get a stunning backdrop and save money on hiring a tent. But if you plan on putting up an abhor tent then make sure you choose a clear open space that will make it easy to mount a tent.
Think about the view
As you exchange vows, you need the perfect ambience. The music should be just right, the décor should be perfect and the backdrop picturesque. Don’t let your guests stare at a blank wall when they could be taking in the gorgeous view on another side of the venue. As you choose the site, look in the direction that your guests will face and ask yourself; “do I want my guests looking at this during the ceremony?”

Ease of access
The ceremony should be as close as possible to the entrance. You want a good, predictable flow; from the reception to the cocktail (if you will have one) and on to the reception. You and your guests should not have to walk through the reception to get to the ceremony. If you do, some of your confused guests might end up sitting at the reception only to realize later that the ceremony is elsewhere. Plus, you take away your guests’ anticipation of seeing the reception setup.
How peaceful is it?
Other than the sound of birds chirping or waves crashing (if you’re so lucky) you probably want your venue to be silent as you make your vows. So if there is a likelihood of it getting noisy, perhaps because of a neighboring public place or a busy highway, then consider moving your ceremony to a section of the grounds that is farthest from the noise.
Number of guests
You might have found the most adorable ceremony venue with a view that makes your heart sing. But is it spacious enough to accommodate your guests? More people will make it to your reception as compared to your ceremony but you still need adequate space for your ceremony. And don’t just think about the number of guests, factor in the aisle, the altar and enough space for a band or DJ.
