After months and months of planning your wedding, the big…
Where you will spend the wedding night will set you off on the right note. It needs to be just right.
And so when the good people at The Intercontinental Hotel Nairobi invited us to spend the night at their luxurious hotel, we were eager to discover what they offer couples to make their wedding night perfect!

It was around 3pm when we checked in. First impressions are everything and the Intercontinental Hotel did not disappoint. As soon as we walked through the door, we were struck by this gorgeous, floral arrangement of blush lilies. You will probably be exhausted on the evening of your wedding and looking forward to settling in, so you will be glad to know that the check in process was very fast.

Our room was on the seventh floor, left wing of the hotel; a queen size, superior room overlooking the city. If you want a stunning view of the city, it doesn’t get better than this. From the balcony, you see Nairobi; buildings that have stood the test of time, Uhuru Park stretching out below, a stream of cars passing by, a city pulsing with excitement even on a late, Saturday afternoon.
This is the heart of the city.
We slipped into comfy slippers and made ourselves a cuppa. The scent of peppermint tea filled the room. And then we stood at the balcony, taking in the view. Our room was immaculate; a white on white, stripped bed cover, with fresh white linen. You almost couldn’t lie on it. Rich burgundy, brown and beige hues set the tone and pastel paintings adorned the walls. If you are a movie-buff, you will love the wide selection of cable TV channels. We were so engrossed flipping through the channels we didn’t realise how much time had flown by. It was now time for dinner.

Dinner was served at the Terrace Restaurant that sits adjacent to the pool. When we got there, Deborah welcomed us with a charming smile and showed us to our table as soft instrumental music played in the background. Every couple deserves this kind of ambience on their wedding night. For our starter, we went with the pumpkin and ginger soup paired with cheese bread. Soups are rarely the stars of the buffet table but that soup...my goodness! Well done to the chef, well done. On to the main course; beef lasagne with several layers of cheese and fried lamb chunks that will make your heart sing. And for dessert we had passion mousse and chocolate and nut cake. After that lavish meal, we made our way back to the room.

We woke up to sunlight streaming in from the balcony through the glass doors. The city was reluctantly waking up; it was after all, a Sunday morning. We went down for breakfast and, as always, we were not disappointed. There was a lavish buffet spread with an array of cereals, bacon, sausages and fruits. If you’re spending your wedding night at The Intercontinental Hotel, then the ideal time to book a spa treatment would be right after breakfast. It’s the perfect way to unwind and prepare for the journey to your honeymoon destination. And what’s more, The Intercontinental Hotel can arrange for airport transfer services.
The hotel offers late check-out, which allowed us to stick around for Sunday Brunch which was scrumptious. It was time to say good bye to what was a fantastic and relaxing stay at The Intercontinental Hotel Nairobi.
Now you must experience it for yourself.
